Literally written last night in a ballroom at a high-top table right next to the dance floor, in haiku form because my brain and body were focused on the music šš¾ There’s something about dancing that connects me to my body in a positive, joyful way instead of the critical, deficit-based way that can be my default. Maybe it’s the way the movement makes me feel free. Maybe it’s the way the music quiets the inner chatter and lights up my mind in color. Maybe it’s the fact that I was surrounded by other book-obsessed, sparkly, confident women who all just wanted to have fun. Whatever it was, I want more of it. Here’s to more nights dancing in the company of friends and strangers alike.
xo, adrienne
from the dance floor
The girlies vibin
ballgowns and corsets galore
knees full of regret
DJ mixing beats
bodies moving and grooving
who runs the world, girls
Playing hits (and duds)
I wonder what will come next
Is this my last song?
No itās the wobble
definitely canāt leave now –
the hips keep swaying
