Written yesterday at 11pm, didn’t get a chance to post until today. I wrote this sitting in a bathtub recovering from being on my feet all day at Apollycon surrounded by people. Getting in water at the end of the day is part of my routine – there is something about the way water truly can wash away the energy, the events, the clinginess of the day.
So in my bath this is what came to mind, typed into my phone and transferred here.
I am a P.O.E.T.

P
positing potential or singing to the sky
words come together
to make your spirit fly
or cry or laugh or be seen as you
poets are the witnesses,
the keepers of what’s true
O
oscillating between hope and despair,
seeing beauty and pain
all at once, everywhere
and opening your eyes to see
what tries to hide and even flee
from being felt and moving through
all the things that roar in you
E
eliciting every emotion and possible feeling
often with the honest intent
of leaving your quiet heart reeling
from the epiphany that broke
your world wide open
T
telling it like it is (and like it ain’t)
reminding you to take-your-time
and decide what’s holy, who are your saints
the poets say the divine is found
inside of you and all around
so treat yourself as if you walk on water
trusting
trusting
