how we will be remembered

 

in my connection to the collective

within and beyond these constructed borders

 

in my resistance and my rest

for there is no movement without both

 

in my seeking to listen and learn

lifelong

focus on what affirms, creates, disrupts, rebuilds

and heals

 

commitment to seeing, honoring, and caring

for the humanity of us all

 

holding up the mirror and facing myself,

ourselves

 

thinking eight generations ahead 

instead of just right now

 

envisioning all that we could

truly be
